After 18 years in Signal Hill, On Deck Batting Cages—the home base where USA Athletics has grown from a couple teams into one of the top travel softball organizations in the nation with over 350 athletes who have gone on to play in college—is moving to a brand new, premium facility in Huntington Beach this summer.

Our History Together
Everything that the modern USA Athletics has become was built inside the walls of our current Signal Hill facility.
Every practice, every rep, every team that came together and went on to compete at the highest levels of travel softball—it all started here.
That's nearly two decades of developing ballplayers, sending athletes to college programs, and building something that families across Southern California trust with their daughters' development.
We don't take that lightly. And this move is about honoring that legacy by giving your athletes a facility that matches the caliber of organization USA Athletics has become.
What's Coming in Huntington Beach
The new facility is a ground-up premium buildout designed to be a true destination training center in SoCal.
Here's what your athlete will be walking into:
- Nine oversized batting cage lanes—70 feet long and 15 feet wide—compared to the roughly 45-by-13-foot lanes most of you are used to in Signal Hill.
- Every lane will be equipped with retractable netting systems that push back to open up multiple large training areas. That means team practices, defensive work, and multi-station training sessions will have room to really breathe.
- A truly world-class weight room and speed and agility training area with all-new equipment rivaling what you'd find at a college program. A dedicated space for your athletes to build the strength, speed, explosiveness, and mobility that separate good ballplayers from elite ones.
- The entire facility will feature a modern, premium aesthetic—all-black turf, black walls—with brand-new equipment throughout, including mounds, tees, pitching machines, L-nets, mats, and more. Enhanced lighting and ventilation, along with fully remodeled restrooms and parent lounges, will make every session more comfortable.
Location Advantage
The new facility is located directly across a quiet street from the Huntington Beach Sports Complex, and in close proximity to many of the primary fields and complexes used for travel softball tournaments throughout our region.
That proximity means less windshield time on tournament weekends and a home base that's right in the heart of where your athletes already compete.
🗓️ Projected last day at Signal Hill: May 25
This date is close to set in stone.
We are targeting a soft opening on June 15th, with a Grand Opening celebration planned for the July 4th weekend or the weekend immediately following.
That means there will be roughly 3–6 weeks of downtime this summer during the transition. As many of you know, this window overlaps with peak tournament season, which is historically the slowest stretch for facility-based practices.
We've been intentional about that timing to minimize disruption to your athletes' schedules.
What Stays the Same
The heart of USA Athletics isn't changing. The culture, the competitive standard, the commitment to developing complete ballplayers and preparing them for college and beyond. All of that travels with us to Huntington Beach.
What changes is that your athletes will now have a facility and training environment that truly matches the level this organization competes at.
