USA Athletics Brinson Pitcher Caydon Swofford Represents America at The Cup in Netherlands

Caydon Swofford (Class of 2028) pitches two shutout wins and earns Cup Star honors at prestigious international indoor softball tournament in Netherlands.

Caydon Swofford c/o 2028, USA Athletics Brinson, traveled to the Netherlands in January to represent America in The Cup, an indoor international softball tournament.

This event is known to be one of the most prestigious indoor international softball events in the world.

She was joined by athletes from all over the US, so this is quite an honor.

The Cup is in its 30th year. First held in Lyon, France and moved 26 years ago to the Netherlands. Countries and National level athletes from the Czech Republic, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Belgium, The United Kingdom, the Netherlands, etc. have been part of who makes up the tournament events team line up.

Caydon’s team had the honor of playing against another American team, Italy’s U18 National team, Netherlands U18 National, and Neptunus, a professional team from the Netherlands with multiple Olympians.

Caydon represented well. She pitched two complete games giving up zero runs and coming away with two wins. Her wins included another American team and Netherlands U18 National team.

Both games were won 1-0. At the plate, Caydon produced a double, a single, and multiple hit by pitches. She stole three bases and scored two runs.

In addition to pitching, she as able to help her team defensively at both shortstop and first base. Caydon was honored to be named one of the The Cup Stars for her pitching. Unfortunately, her team lost in round two of bracket play to the powerful Neptunus team 1-0.

“Softball has provided so many amazing opportunities that have opened so many doors. The trip also encompassed many learning experiences.”

She toured Ann Frank’s home in Amsterdam, the Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, and many other places.
